Temple Hill Entertainment

Development Intern

June - August 2018 • West Hollywood, CA

What I liked

I sat in on weekly staff meetings in a room of executives and producers with decades of entertainment experience under their belts. I became assimilated into the Hollywood jargon and familiar with the names of some of the most talented writers, producers and directors in the industry. I enjoyed answering the phones and forwarding calls, and when no calls came in, I would read and cover feature or television scripts.

What I wish was different

I wish my commute wasn't two hours long each way. I wish I got paid money to work a 9-hour workday but the experience definitely made it worth it.

Advice

Never underestimate your personal network. In the entertainment industry, the knowledge is all out there. If you can demonstrate a vast understanding of the film world, people will take note of your confidence. It really is fake it till you make it in Hollywood; a neverending rat race of creatives who are desperate to know more than their competitors.
