Tenneco

Product Engineer Intern

May - August 2023 • Skokie, IL

What I liked

The engineers I worked with plus the other interns. Everyone was so friendly and always willing to answer any questions I had about my tasks.

What I wish was different

Nothing honestly. Though I do wish I had done a bit more of designing while on the job but I still got some design validation and analysis experience.

Advice

Be open to new ideas and criticism and be ready to help out other engineers or different departments.

Commercial Sales Intern

July - August 2020 • Grass Lake, MI

What I liked

The culture at Tenneco is amazing. Everyone is so kind, and eager to help. They want you to ask questions because it means you care and are trying to really understand things, they want you to learn and gain something from the experience. They are very quick to be available for you and have been very flexible given the weird times we are in. Also, they treat you as an equal, they are respectful and acknowledge that you are capable and are very appreciative of the work you do to help the company.

What I wish was different

I do wish I could have had more time in the office instead of working from home for more of a chance to network and understand corporate life on a day to day basis-but this is no fault of Tenneco, just the times.

Advice

Don't be afraid to ask questions! Asking questions shows you care and want to learn, they will really appreciate that. Plus, they want you to gain valuable skills and knowledge from the experience.
