What I liked

It was great hands-on experience working with a clinical population and helped me to decide what kind of research I want to do and where I would like to work as a clinician.

What I wish was different

It would have been nice to have experienced more of the therapeutic side of the center and interact more with the clinicians on site. From what I saw, it didn't seem like the children had very much time with the therapists throughout the week and learning more about why that was and how the therapists worked with the kids would have been beneficial.

Advice

Interacting with traumatized children is challenging and can be quite frightening at times, so knowing your own limits and trigger, when you need to take a break is crucial.
