The Global Impex USA Group Inc

Business Analyst Intern

January - March 2021 • St. Cloud, MN

What I liked

I worked as a Business Analyst across the company's three businesses - Global Impex/Guild Apparel/ Stryv Med. From the very start, King and Bob motivated and checked on every intern. They also gave us the freedom to explore and find areas that interest us - from supply chain to sales, digital marketing, and more. Even though I was primarily a Business Analyst, I was able to explore other areas and take on leadership roles, anchoring various projects. They encourage you every morning and let you take the lead, while silently supporting you. This is an experience that you can gain only through a start-up and a company like Global Impex with amazing mentors that support you even after your internship!

What I wish was different

Advice

Ask questions, you have so many areas to explore and take lead in the company. King and Bob, encourage ideas and initiatives and support you at every step.

Graphic Design & Digital Marketing Intern

May - September 2021 • St. Cloud, MN

What I liked

This internship has been a great source for building my professional connections and experiences. I feel more equipped to handle business related tasks and it’s overall helped me develop a better understanding of all the work that goes behind the scenes of a growing company. I’m really thankful for getting the opportunity to expand my network and I admire how team-oriented Global Impex strives to be; it’s been a great factor in building upon my professional social skills and I am super excited to see how this company continues to grow.

What I wish was different

I wish I was able to experience this internship outside of the Covid-19 Pandemic; Although we were able to meet in person with other interns every so often, I think it would be fun to have more in-person collaborations. Covid Kind of limited that opportunity but it's not necessarily something that could be controlled, especially for this year.

Advice

Don't feel like you have to do everything on your own if you are getting overwhelmed; remember you have a team, Advisors and other great resources to reach out to if you need help. Be honest and open about your progress - the environment should be really understanding if you are.

Sales Intern

May - August 2020 • Rohnert Park, CA

What I liked

I really liked how King and Bob weren't hesitant to let us know we can always reach out and utilize them as a resource to help close a sale or any questions you have for them in general. They love to help you become a better sales rep.

What I wish was different

The ability to reach my teammates better. Because of it being remote, I wish I could have gotten responses from my teammates sooner. That being said, always voice what you need in the beginning. Communication is always key.

Advice

Work hard, follow up, and always reach out to prospects.

Sales Representative and Marketing intern

May 2018 • St. Cloud, MN

What I liked

I loved how much freedom I was given to achieve to collective goals. My sales numbers and marketing strategies reflected my strategy to get new clients and retain current clients. The company is a startup and this makes it great for hand-on experience.

What I wish was different

When I interned there were only two interns, now there are several because the company has grown so much! I wish I could have interned with more interns!

Advice

Be vocal with your ideas! If I didn't speak up about ideas and new tactics for use I wouldn't have felt as though I contributed as much as I wanted to. The owners are great and want to hear your opinions and ideas.

Sales Associate

August 2018 • St. Cloud, MN

What I liked

I have been with Global Impex for a year now and the experience I have gotten has surpassed my expectations. Bob and King manage in a way that pushed me outside of my comfort zone and helped me grow quickly. I have been able to make new connections and learn much more about self-motivation, organization, and communication. The job has given me increased confidence in my ability to complete challenging tasks and succeed in a variety of situations. I like that the team is small and made up of other students like myself. It makes for an enjoyable and exciting learning environment.

What I wish was different

Advice

The business model allows for you to take full control over your work. With this being said, there are times you may run across situations/calls/tasks you do not know how to approach and complete. It is important to stay positive and keep an open mind. Along with that, self-motivation is key in this experience.

Sale Intern

May - August 2019 • St. Cloud, MN

What I liked

The owners of the company, Bob and King, directly mentor all of the interns they hire and care deeply about their individual development. I was given the opportunity to work on various projects with their direct support and feedback. King and Bob were always available to call when I had a question or needed guidance on a project. I gained hands on experience and learned so much more from them than I did in any classroom. Our team was full of fellow student interns which created a fun and exciting learning atmosphere. Bob and King treated me as an important member of their team and working alongside them was the highlight of my internship.

What I wish was different

Not much, I learned a lot during my internship and there were plenty of fun learning opportunities.

Advice

Take initiative and be proactive! The owners allow interns the freedom to experiment and implement their own ideas. This allows you to be creative and show off your skills.
