Public Relations Intern

May - August 2019 • Columbus, OH

What I liked

I loved learning hands on what it would be like to work in the field that I’m studying. It was a great experience.

What I wish was different

I wish it had been a paid internship. I was also taking classes online at Capital University and working late nights so I could pay bills etc. It was a lot.

Advice

Do it. If you’re given the opportunity to take up an internship, do it. You will not regret it. Even if you don’t choose that field of work some day, you still have the experience and it looks great on your resume.

Camp Counselor

June 2019 • Royal Oak, MI

What I liked

It is an extremely valuable experience for working with children.

What I wish was different

Even now I look back on my summer experience and I do not want anything to be different. There were several difficult times working with the children, however, I learned to much from those times to want to change them.

Advice

I would offer advise that had been offered to me many times and that is to seek first to understand before being understood. Before sharing omyoyr thoughts or expressing ones anger try to understand what may have caused the situation.

Head Lifeguard

May - August 2019 • Bedford, IN

What I liked

I enjoy working with the campers from across Indiana. They all come from different backgrounds, but for each camp, they share one common experience in a safe and fun environment.

What I wish was different

We had some drastic leadership changes midsummer. This was difficult for me personally because I had been working under the camp director for 4 summers.

Advice

You will cry, stress, and be exhausted, but it's worth it. The campers make everything worth it.

What I liked

I liked the experience and the relationships that I make every year that I work at this camp. There is always something new to learn and new people to meet. That’s the only reason I continue to work there.

The pay raise should be higher

Advice

Every year is different and every child is different. Treat everyone as you would like to be treated.

counselor

June - August 2019 • Chico, CA

What I liked

I enjoyed working with the local youth of Chico, also we had many children that were victims of the Paradise fire and it was a great experience being able to work with these kids and brightening there days during the summer.

What I wish was different

It was the first year that the program had taken place and I wish the organization was better but as the years continue it will certainly grow and strengthen.

Advice

It was definitely a great experience and awesome way to get connected with the community. If you want to know more information go in on a Sunday to ask about the program for the next summer!
