What I liked

Everything! Meeting youth, getting to know them, and watching them grow, both as people and spiritually. Working with 27 other counselors, getting to know them, and creating meaningful relationships. Growing both as a person and in my relationship with God.

What I wish was different

I only wish it had gone on longer.

Advice

I would advise everyone to be a camp counselor at least once in their lives. It teaches service, humility, teamwork, working with people you may not get along with, how to interact with youth (and their parents), patience, love, and so much more. It truly is worth the smaller paycheck.

Office Assistant

What I liked

I was not stuck in an office all day everyday because this job involved helping program directors or counselors setting up activities or taking equipment outside as well as being involved in the experiences or games made for the campers, while also performing various office duties.

What I wish was different

Nothing, it was all what I had expected and everyone was very supportive and encouraging.

Advice

I would advise to keep staying involved in the campers' activities after your office duties are done, but also take time to yourself to re-energize yourself spiritually and support the counselors and other staff members in various ways.

Everything! Speaking bible stories into the lives of middle schoolers was incredible.

Nothing. I loved all of it.

Anyone should take this kind of opportunity. Builds solid communication skills.
