What I liked

The Taft Summer School community is very supportive. They have lots of resources and partnerships to help out introductory teachers. When not in the classroom, it's so easy to interact with the students because you live in the same quarters as the students you may be teaching.

What I wish was different

On the weekends, we went on different trips (NYC, Boston, 6 Flags). These trips are great, just to prepare for them, make sure to talk to other staff about any reservations you may have about chaperoning a group of students.

Advice

As part of the teaching fellows program, you will be working with 9-12 other juniors and seniors in college. They all bring diverse backgrounds and perspectives so talk to them about and try to learn from their experiences.
