The University of Alabama

Undergraduate Research Assistant

May 2023 • Tuscaloosa, AL

What I liked

The ability to get involved in any area of my choice, as well as actively participate in the activities of the research group.

What I wish was different

Nothing! My supervisors offered great guidance, and I learnt a lot during my time working there. I also got to complete my project and give a presentation on it, so I loved the experience!

Advice

Approach every new thing with an open mind. As a Mechanical Engineering major, I felt like it would be of little help to me if I did research in Metallurgy and Materials Science. However, this summer experience helped me realize that the interface between Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science is very broad and active! It led me to consider opportunities that I had never thought of before!
