I loved that I had the ability to positively impact my residents day from giving physical care, to emotional support.
What I wish was different
I wish that I had gotten my CNA certificate sooner.
Advice
Patience is key. There have been many days that I have just wanted to throw in the towel out of frustration. Looking back on it now, I can say with out a doubt that nothing will compare to the memories I have of listening and learning from my residents' experiences. They have taught me so much about not only themselves but also my character. I have learned how to help another person who couldn't understand the bare basics of daily skills; changing, eating, talking. Patience is a virtue but never before have I understood the necessity of this idea until I had this experience.
