Sales Associate

What I liked

It was good to see my old coworkers again.

What I wish was different

I wish I was able to put my finance experience to use instead of becomes a sales associate again:

Advice

My advice would be to make sure managers don’t take advantage of you. I had managers schedule me more hours than they should have or add me to the schedule when I didn’t give them confirmation that I could be there.

Sales Associate

June 2016 • Gainesville, FL

What I liked

I enjoy this job because it was the first job that I ever got when I was sixteen and I have stayed true to the company for almost 4 years now, therefore I am very familiar with all of the tasks and policies. However there are always changes being made requiring adaptation to the store, as well as new things to learn and ways to move up.

What I wish was different

I wish that I had been in just one location longer, I am from Gainesville, FL so I started here and then transferred to Jacksonville my freshman year of college, transferred back to Gainesville for the summer and am now back at the Jacksonville location. In some ways this has limited my ability to move up to higher position with all of the moving but now that I am permanently back in Jacksonville I look forward to better opportunities.

Advice

I would recommend that if working in retail always be ready for a new challenge, whether that be difficult customers or a project to get the store ready for a new season. However this is not something that should be intimidating it should be expected and just be prepared for the different seasons, especially the holiday times.
