What I liked

I liked the company culture and the events that we had , as well as the state of the art technology in the lab. i was very actively involved in the research, given plenty of responsabilities, and learned a ton.

What I wish was different

There were sometimes were i was put under some extreme pressure and there were some difficult situations i would have rather not have experienced but in the end it taught me a lot about being in a work environment where you work with the same people everyday

Advice

Translational Biology Research Intern

May - August 2019 • Lehi, UT

What I liked

I loved having lots of hands-on experience. I was able to learn a wide variety of techniques including cell culture, immunofluorescence, flow cytometry, protein quantification, RNA extraction, microscopy, and handling mice. It was also great to be involved in lab meetings, hiring presentations, and seminars to be able to see industry from many perspectives and learn about the research going on. We were also able to give presentations on our own research at the end of the summer which was a great opportunity to learn about preparing and giving scientific presentations effectively.

What I wish was different

I wish the schedule would have been a little bit more defined.

Advice

I think internships are a very important part of education and career development. It is a fantastic way of understanding what the field is like and knowing if it is a good fit for you.
