Video Production Intern

May - July 2021 • Kirkwood, MO

What I liked

I loved the variety of work I was able to do through this internship. I assisted with account management, pre-production, production, project management, general marketing, video editing, client communication and more. I also loved the general culture and staff at Unbridled. Everyone went out of their way to get to know me personally and make me feel comfortable.

What I wish was different

The only thing I wish was different was that there were some staff members that I wish I got to work under/get to know better but due to constant traveling and varying schedules it became a challenge. However, Teams was a really helpful tool for managing communication when people were out of the office.

Advice

Don't be afraid to ask questions or express interest in certain areas you would like to work in. The staff is extremely welcoming and only wants you to feel comfortable/get the most out of this experience.

Video Production Intern

November 2020 - May 2021 • Kirkwood, MO

What I liked

One of my favorite things about working at Unbridled Media was the ability to edit many professional level videos. This allowed me to improve my skillset with softwares such as Premiere Pro. I also connected with a lot of friendly and hard-working professionals who are local to St. Louis and I had the opportunity to collaborate on many different projects with them.

What I wish was different

I wish that I was able to participate in more on-set experiences. I especially would have liked to travel with the crew to out of state locations. I greatly appreciated and valued the sets that I did work on. I also wish that I had been more assertive early on in the semester in asking for learning opportunities. I now know that the staff was willing, but I still was adjusting to the new setting.

Advice

My biggest piece of advice is just be prepared to show up on time and work hard. Don’t be afraid to ask the staff questions as they are very knowledgeable and willing to help. Finally, use this opportunity to learn as much as you can including aspects of video production that might not be your strong suit. Ben and Mike have a motto, "Be a swiss-army knife," meaning learn as much as you can about all aspects of this career path.
