My supervisor taught me a great deal about the theory behind his research and lab techniques. I conducted experiments instead of simply doing paperwork and lab maintenance.
What I wish was different
I wish there had been more time, we had gotten results in the last week of my internship. I had to leave before the next step could be taken.
Advice
Make sure to take the time to know your research and form a bond with your supervisor. These are the things they will remember when writing letters of recommendation.
