United Cerebral Palsy of MetroBoston

Summer Intern

May - August 2017 • Watertown, MA

What I liked

I loved the hands-on aspect of this internship. I was given much more independence than I expected, and it really allowed me to connect with the patients and have a lot of face-time with them to build trusting relationships.

What I wish was different

I wish there was a chance for me to engage in some sort of project during my months of working at UCP. However, I understand that this was difficult because there were many OT, PT, and ST students who took priority for their schooling and class projects

Advice

I would recommend seeing if there is any kind of project you can do to get to know the patients better! It will help in the long-run of building relationships with them and learning how to work with them properly.
