What I liked

You learn a lot about occupational health, in terms of laser, radiation, biological, and chemical safety. In the summer, I mostly worked in chemical safety. It was great to see the behind the scenes of how labs are operated and evaluated, which was something I didn't really think of when taking lab classes. I gained a lot of appreciation for this type of work.

What I wish was different

It would have been nice to have a little in-person work like seeing the labs I was doing inventories for, but I really liked remote work.

Advice

Know your limits, because this job is challenging. Your work is never truly done, but that's not a bad thing either. You continuously learn and adapt. Understand it's a process and you should take it step by step. Don't beat yourself up too much when you didn't get everything you wanted to or feel behind. Sometimes, you're actually behind because you haven't gotten rest (i.e. you burned yourself out). As a result, you can't put as much energy into work, school, and/or personal life.
