Emergency Department Nurse Case Manager
February 2019 • Bel Air, MD
What I liked
I enjoyed learning a new nursing practice other than my 5 years of ED bedside nursing. It has been very interesting in shifting priorities from direct patient care to social services. I have enjoyed the pace of working as a case manager as the stress level is different. Also, I have learned many applicable skills to life outside of nursing. The people that I have met in this career have proven to be great resources and mentors.
What I wish was different
The pace is a little to slow for me at times. I also have found that I miss using my direct patient care clinical skills.
Advice
The more "hats" that one can wear in nursing makes them a more rounded and valued employee.

Ask as many questions as you can (as long as it's appropriate timing)! The physicians are more than happy to explain things you don't understand and it will only benefit you in the future
