About University of Minnesota Medical School

The University of Minnesota Medical School was founded in 1888 to serve the health care needs of Minnesota. Our school spans two campuses—the main Twin Cities campus and Duluth.

As one of the largest medical schools in the country, the University of Minnesota Medical School:

Trains more than 70 percent of Minnesota's physicians
Receives more than $188 million in research grants each year
Provides care to nearly 1 million patients across the state.
Our students have the opportunity to excel through innovative research and state-of-the-art training, and the opportunity to provide care through affiliated hospitals and clinics across the state.

We are committed to diversity and training physicians to meet the needs of diverse communities. We are focused on helping deliver better outcomes to patients more efficiently, and improving lives across our state and around the world.

As the largest member of the University of Minnesota’s Academic Health Center, we help develop coordinated, interprofessional care models working alongside the School of Dentistry, School of Nursing, College of Pharmacy, School of Public Health, and College of Veterinary Medicine.
