I got to work with incoming freshmen to make class registration easier. I feel like I made a positive impact in this position and it isn't as stressful as being an Orientation Leader. I also felt like I got to know my advisors more through working with them.
What I wish was different
This was the first year of Orientation College Ambassador positions. For next summer, I think the OCAs could be assigned projects to work on. The projects could relate to advising, academic success, diversity, and ways to connect on campus. And I think this additional component could add or enhance the leadership component of this position.
Advice
It's important to come in with a good attitude. The incoming freshman will be very tired on that second day of orientation, and the last thing they need are ambassadors who don't want to be there.
