The Upper Occoquan Service Authority (UOSA) is a state-of-the-art water reclamation plant located in Centreville, VA. UOSA was created in 1971 to transform the Occoquan Watershed from a largely rural area to a predominantly urban/suburban region mandated by the Occoquan Policy. UOSA’s product water flows by way of Bull Run to the Occoquan Reservoir, a major water supply source for over 1.3 million people served by the Fairfax County Water Authority (FCWA). Principal areas served by the FCWA are Fairfax County, the City of Alexandria and Prince William County. UOSA has met or exceeded its discharge standards established by the Occoquan Policy for twenty-five years and water quality in the Occoquan Reservoir has steadily improved.
UOSA continually strives to provide an enhanced environment and to meet the future needs of its service areas. The treatment plant processes wastewater at a capacity of 54 million gallons per day (mgd).
A major factor in the successful operation of UOSA is its highly trained and dedicated staff. All employees undertake, very seriously, the mission of UOSA to deliver and treat wastewater in its advanced water reclamation system to protect and augment the water supply for over 1.3 million citizens.
