The Biomechanics team was extremely fun and welcoming and made me feel like a part of the team from the very start. During my time there, I gained a great deal of coding experience and learned a lot about sensor data analytics. The various projects that the team was working on were extremely interesting and I got to get some insight into how a research study is put together and developed and how human subject research is done.
What I wish was different
To no fault of the biomechanics team, the main study that I helped develop code for would not actually start testing until after my time there. I wish I had gotten to see how my code was used for actual testing and analysis and what the results of the study were.
Advice
Go in with an open mind and know that your skills will be developed and used no matter how unrelated the current projects may seem. As a computer engineering major, I wasn't sure I would actually fit with the team, but I was able to provide a good amount of help to the team and gained a lot of experience that was relevant to my studies.
