Research and Development Student Engineer

May - September 2019 • Orem, UT

What I liked

The internship was fulfilling, added value to the company, and challenging. The company culture is open and focused on individual development.

What I wish was different

The company had decided last minute to open a few positions for student engineers, so the transition to get started was a little slow, but that is to be expected anyways. I'm happy that I was available when they did because it turned out to be a great experience.

Advice

Take time to learn a lot from the company early in an internship. Once you are up to speed with everyone else, your work will be much more effective and fulfilling.

Automation Engineering Intern

October 2017 • Orem, UT

What I liked

Really great experience - lots of practical mechanical experience. Really strengthened many foundational skill sets. Great variety in the work, never doing the same thing twice.

What I wish was different

Wish I could have a little more exposure to design and analysis. Would love to have more insight on those processes.

Advice

Expect your work to be somewhere between a technician and an engineer. Having the right expectations about your job description would help a lot.
