It was nice learning how to be a teaching parent who loves unconditionally. This job helped me to understand children and their needs, along with the need for structure in the home.
What I wish was different
It was a very stressful job, I wish management trained a little more or warned me of possible danger situations.
Advice
I would advise not to attempt to be a family teacher with kids. It was high stress and I felt my child was unsafe in some circumstances that arose. I would advise anyone interested in this job to not take things personal and make sure to manage your own emotions.

What I liked
The supportive staff and the amazing kiddos. They all convinced me that this is the field I’m meant to be in!
What I wish was different
Absolutely nothing, I wouldn’t give my experiences up for the world.
Advice
It’s not for everyone, but for those who it is for, you will never be able to turn back! The kids make your heart so full, and the staff are always willing to help, teach, and tell you about different opportunities!

What I liked
I enjoyed helping youth who struggled with behavior challenges in their homes and at school. I also worked with court cases where youth commit crimes. I enjoyed learning about why youth went down the path they did and trying to help them overcome obstacles in their lives.
What I wish was different
I wish it would have been more consistent with time. Appointments were often rescheduled or canceled which made it difficult with my young son and my babysitter.
Advice
I would share that youth have so much potential to overcome the challenges they struggle with. Everyone needs someone to believe in them.
