What I liked

I enjoyed the welcoming work environment at my Vacasa office. Everyone worked as a team and helped each other with different tasks. From my internship specifically, I liked being able to work directly with product displays and mannequins.

What I wish was different

Something that I wish that had been different is that I would have liked to engage with the company's regional advertising campaigns as well as with their social media pages.

Advice

One piece of advise that I would like to share is to be direct in sharing what your skills are with your manager and to make it known that you would like to use your skills to contribute to the company's success.

More structured internship program. Lack of intern events or activities compared to comparable internships.

International Accounting Intern

What I liked

I was able to gain an experience like none other. I had a full time internship, and now I’m currently a part-time Accounting Coordinator! I couldn’t have asked for a better company to accommodate the need for flexibility since I am still a full time student. I highly recommend Vacasa.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have been able to perform more Audit and Tax type work.

Advice

I would always encourage someone to ask questions. They don’t expect you to know everything on day one, so don’t be afraid to ask if you’re unsure!

What I liked

Vacasa has an excellent culture that finds the balance between work and external activities (Such as classes or clubs). If you are interested in a rapid growth company with a dynamic work environment, Vacasa is great.

What I wish was different

With them being a younger company, there still is a lack of structure at times. Additionally, the amount of work varies quite extensively from week to week. This can be expected with many accounting positions though.

Portfolio Analytics Intern

What I liked

A relatively laid back and fun place to work for the summer, great for an early internship experience in analytics or for those who are interested in the tech startup scene. As an intern, you were given the opportunity to work on impactful projects from the start and were responsible for carrying out time sensitive tasks.

What I wish was different

Nothing comes to mind about the internship itself, but the pre-onboarding process could have been more involved.

Advice

Practice the tools you want to learn to use; it is far more rewarding learning a new language/program by practicing on real company data than on classroom datasets.
