What I liked

Excellent team atmosphere—everyone is happy to help you learn and get acclimated to the processes and steps in the company. Big culture of helping others across departments.

What I wish was different

There is an unspoken pressure to always be available for work, as production runs 24/7. Nobody says it, but everyone feels it when a line is down because of a machine malfunction or maintenance.

Be flexible. Keep track of what projects you have and signed up for, and be ready to push them aside to firefight when things inevitably come up. At the same time, don’t let the day-to-day completely swallow up your longer-running tasks. Focused 30 minute meetings every week can keep a project alive when it would otherwise be swept under the rug. Don’t be afraid to ask for help, and ask why things are done the way they are.
