What I liked

Everyone is so kind and invested in aligning your work with your particular academic/career interests. I worked with a couple other interns and we each had our own projects that corresponded to what we wanted to learn more about, even if it was outside our department. The culture is very relaxed and welcoming, and incredible inclusive. Well is a brilliant startup, and you will definitely get hands-on experience. All your work will be meaningful and implemented in some way or another. You'll also have incredible mentors and the high-level executives are just as involved in the company and will know you by name. They also have free coffee and snacks!

What I wish was different

This internship exceeded all my expectations! I wish I had a full in-person experience, Obviously, that wasn't possible because of covid. I wish I had clearer expectations of the job when I applied because I ended up doing something very different that I thought I would be. I think this was their first time hiring interns in several different departments so I assume the role specifics will be a lot clearer now that it isn't a new process.

Advice

Everyone is busy, so it is up to you to organize your time: make sure you speak up if a meeting is taking over your lunch break, or if it's late and you need to get home. Any overscheduling will likely be a mistake, and everyone at Well is very understanding and respectful of your time.
