Interim Patron Services Manager

January 2017 • Muskegon, MI

What I liked

I liked how many opportunities there were. I was the acting Patron Services Manager, sold over $5,500 worth of program book ads, and presented 13 children’s outreach events that had anywhere from 20-120 children in attendance.

What I wish was different

While there were many opportunities, it was a very stressful job because I was asked to do so much. A typical day consisted of selling season and single concert tickets, inputting season/single ticket data, mailing out tickets and marketing materials, generating sales reports, inputting thousands of dollars worth of donations into a CRM, generating thank you letters, emailing prospective businesses to try to sell program ad space, and answering the main phone line.

Advice

To go to work each day with a brief mental (or physical), outline of goals you hope to accomplish. I constantly had a “to do list” that sat on my desk and would grow and shrink each day.
