What I liked

The church and ministry are well established, allowing me to jump in and get an incredible experience. The team I worked with was great and gave me so many opportunities. They did a great job of ensuring I felt confident in what I was doing and encouraging me as I went. God used my time at Wooddale to change my life and reveal His call on my life. This experience is one I will never forget and look back on fondly, pointing it out as an essential part of my journey.

What I wish was different

It was unpaid which was difficult, but the experience I received was worth it. I wish I would have had more opportunities to teach and develop that skill, but in the summer you get a different side of ministry. Honestly, I wouldn't change much about my experience, I would do it all again.

Advice

I would say you should jump in right away. Don't be shy, take every opportunity to lead and build relationships. Take time to get to know the other staff at the church, they are all amazing. You won't always know what you are doing, but do it with confidence and you'll figure it out as you go (that's what I did). This is an amazing church and ministry to be a part of and I would recommend this experience to anyone who even has a slight interest in youth ministry.
