Writers & Books

Communications Intern

June - August 2018 • Rochester, NY

What I liked

It was very exciting to gain experience in the humanities and in nonprofit work, without having to suffer financially. Most nonprofit internships go unpaid, and this scholarship gave me the opportunity to a fulfilling job like this. I was working on projects independently and acquiring new skills, and it also lead me to my current position at Writers & Books as a membership coordinator.

What I wish was different

Nothing, this opportunity was perfect for me.

Advice

You won't be grabbing coffee or filling out spreadsheets--come prepared to share your ideas and begin your work as an independent staff member!

Advice

Don't be afraid to lead an off site event. The events were really cool and all of the artists are really nice so take advantage and go for it, it'll be a great experience.
