What I liked

I love the environment. I enjoy how the students respect their teachers even if I was just a college student. Respect is a huge deal in that country. I experience a lot of on-going conversation about how to prepare for college in general. The students were very interested to learn more about my college experience so far.

What I wish was different

I wish I had the opportunity to stay longer in Micronesia to teach these young students. They are very bright and full of curiosity especially coming from a small country. If I had more time with them, I would prep them how fun college is and how hard it could be. "College is your full time job."

Advice

I would recommend more college students to do volunteer service at least once because the experience is so worth it. Despite not getting paid, I learned how to networking through diversity of people and the ability to experience different cultures.
