What I liked

This was an 8 week program, and every week was different and unique! This job was all about service and forming leaders in today's youth. I loved getting to share my passion of serving with the youth and being a part of their growth throughout their adolescence. The kids, management, and projects were all amazing.

What I wish was different

We worked with different agencies every week, and some were not as involved as others. I wish more agency leaders communicated with the youth to let them know their purpose at the project.

Advice

It is not only a learning experience for the youth, but for yourself as well. Have patience and an open mind. Each youth is different and unique in his or her own way - learn to appreciate these differences!

What I liked

The job was very challenging and very meaningful. I got to collaborate with a lot of Non-Profit Organizations in and around Kansas City, as well as lead a group of teenagers in their service projects.

What I wish was different

The job was extremely demanding, I wish there had been more resources available, or more staff members to lighten the load a bit.

Advice

Going into this job, I felt unqualified, as I have never held a significant leadership position before. However, being a Team Leader for YVC was one of the more rewarding experiences of my life. My advice is that you are more capable than you think!
