What I liked

I liked the fact that I was in a big company environment that gave me the opportunity to work with a wide variety of professionals with different backgrounds.

What I wish was different

I wish the role I had was better defined and had more opportunities for critical thinking/problem-solving work. My primary roles revolved around doing more secretarial work in terms of looking for documents and sending emails.

Advice

Take every opportunity to network and broaden your skillset. If you're bored, go talk to someone you haven't met yet and ask them about their path and what they do.

What I liked

Loved the pricing team. The managers are very clear with expectations and they always make themselves available to help with projects and questions you might have. The work is invigorating, because of the fast-paced nature of pricing, and everyone in the group really wants to help you do your best. Couldn't have worked for a better group of people!

What I wish was different

The workload fluctuated from time to time, so some days you are almost overloaded with assignments and on others you struggle to find work to complete. But communicating with others to help them out with what they're doing helps to pass the time and give you things to do!

Advice

Take a lot of notes and ask a lot of questions! The more questions you ask, even if you have to repeat them, the more you'll learn and the more you can help out the team!

Could be repetitive work at times, I’m working on one product line which has its highest demand during the summer

Advice

If there is something you want to work on or somewhere you would like to go (conference, observe a surgery etc…), take initiative! Don’t wait for someone to approach you about it. And get to know as many people as you can, they are willing to share what they work on and what their experience has been like

I loved the work that I was given, the pay, and my co-workers.

What I wish was different

I wish that I could have had another intern working on my same major project, because it was a lot of work. I also wish the corporate was in a better location. I did no like Indiana.

Advice

Go in ready to work, but have fun and make sure that you make friends with the other interns at the office and the interns at Depuy.

What I liked

I enjoyed the people I worked with and the challenges I was given. I learned how corporate finance and accounting concepts are applied systematically within the grand scheme of a large corporation, and that experience was invaluable.

What I wish was different

If I would have had more accounting and finance knowledge in my back pocket at the time, it would have gone even better for me.

Always take notes and try to understand the underlying financial concepts behind your work.
