About American Association of People with Disabilities

The American Association of People with Disabilities is one of the nation's largest disability rights organizations. We promote equal opportunity, economic power, independent living, and political participation for people with disabilities. Our members, including people with disabilities and our family, friends, and supporters, represent a powerful force for change.

We have full-time, part-time, and paid internship opportunities of interest to current students and alumni with disabilities.

Disability Justice Initiative Intern

May 2019 - August 2019 Washington, DC
“Great program structure, lots of built-in learning. An incredible opportunity to be surrounded by other youth with disabilities all in DC to achieve change.”

Summer Intern

June 2018 - August 2018 Washington, DC
“I liked the networking opportunities I had with prominent figures in the disability community. I liked that I didn't have to worry about where I was going to intern because AAPD placed me at an organization based on my interests. Also, I appreciated that they provided housing at GW.”
