I loved working as a team with the Camp Staff, where we formed bonds and friendships over 3 weeks of tough but intentional training, in preparation for 8 weeks of hosting campers! Each week, I got to meet a new set of 30-60 volunteer counselors to work alongside, along with my fellow 2 Link Team Members to serve the kids. Outside of working at camp, it was a great experience to travel and visit the mountains, city, and local coffee shops. It was a great summer to step out of my comfort zone, lead, and connect with others.
What I wish was different
I wish the camp had been able to fully staff their positions, and many of our different roles were strained. However, we made it work and it made our friendships closer.
Advice
Prepare to take initiative, pour into others, and be poured into. Being a counselor requires a lot of responsibility but this is supported by a very close network of peers. You need other people at camp!
