What I liked

I love the environment that I get to work in and the people I get to work with. I also love interacting with fans and knowing that by working, I am helping make a positive difference in the community.

What I wish was different

Nothing! It has been an incredible experience!

Advice

One piece of advice I would share about this experience is to work on building relationships with people currently employed full-time in the organization, and say "yes" to other opportunities that come up through this job, as they are all super fun and great experiences!

Sales Development Staff Representative

April - September 2019 • Phoenix, AZ

What I liked

I loved how Handshake allowed me to promote myself in the way that I found gave me the best opportunity to be offered a position such as the one I earned with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Handshake allowed me to contact, reach out to, and eventually meet with the same supervisors that eventually hired me in my internship role.

What I wish was different

There is not much I would change about my experience. Overall, I learned a lot about the hiring process for internships and future jobs, and I also grew a substantial amount as a young professional.

Advice

I would advise those seeking out similar opportunities to always be as professional as possible. Whether it be on social media, sites such as Handshake, or even in person. You never know who is watching, and who might have a career opportunity for you.

Getting to experience the sports business industry. I was able to learn sales techniques and work with other departments during games and other events.

Be prepared to be uncomfortable. Sales doesn’t come naturally to most people so one would need to be willing to step out of the comfort zone to be successful in this position.
