What I liked

The people I worked with were great. I learned about a vital aspect of my job, which is title research. I learned how to work in an office for the first time.

What I wish was different

I wish I got to do more, I felt like I was underutilized and wanted to get more out of the job.

Advice

Treat every day as if it were the first day of your internship. Never stop asking questions.

Engineering Intern

May - August 2018 • Lakewood, CO

What I liked

I was able to work on site development for wind farms so I gained a lot of knowledge of how the process of setting up and designing and wind farm works. I also did a lot of design work and so I used AutoCAD - Civil 3D a lot and now feel a lot more comfortable using it. Overall the experience was fantastic for me and it has helped direct my career path.

What I wish was different

I wish I had a different mentor. It just seemed that we weren't on the same page a lot of the time and I like to experiment with my ideas instead of just following directions constantly. This caused a little conflict between us, but we were able to work things out and get along well in the end.

Advice

I would say that when you are looking for an internship, really explore! This is some of the only time that you have to try different lines of work within your field and see what really interests you and what you might want to make a career out of. Also, never get the same type of internship twice because you really don't know what your best at or what you like the most until you spend at least a summer doing it.
