I wish we got more real-word experience through the internship. I still learned a lot and further developed my skills, but I wish I was able to apply them while being there.

What I liked

My managers, mentors, and recruiters stayed in contact with me throughout the summer, and they were always there to answer any of my concerns. We were given mini-projects that allowed us to explore multiple sectors of the bank. Also, the pay is very nice.

What I wish was different

Giving the unprecedented circumstances of COVID-19, we weren't given much work. I wished we were able to work on more long-term, challenging and beneficial tasks.

Advice

Majority of the work at Bofa is team oriented, so get to know your peers and keep a steady flow of communication with your teammates.

With being seasonal I didn't have an opportunity to fully learn the job which denied me access to certain tasks.

To have self iniative. Learn the job and then if you have questions, before going to others in the office, exhaust all options that you can find on your own.

What I liked

The experience was pretty much what I expected. There was a fair amount of challenge as well as guidance. The teamwork atmosphere was great and I was able to get a realistic taste of a full-time positions day-to-day.

What I wish was different

I wish that there could have been more training upfront as the learning curve was quite steep, My orientation program got cut short by protests.

Advice

I think one important ability is to manage your emotions, the ability to stay calm in front of heavy workload is crucial.

I loved the people I worked with and how willing they were to help me learn as much as possible. I also enjoyed being able to learn the software systems they used. I became a lot more up to date on the markets and current events which was very interesting and helpful.
