Chipotle Mexican Grill

Grill Cook

June - August 2018 • Puyallup, WA

What I liked

The rest of the crew was laid back, fun, and easy to work with.

What I wish was different

Definitely a filler job. Not something I want to do full time for the rest of my life.

Advice

Great experience if you go into it with an open mind and are willing to learn new things.

What I liked

I like working at Chipotle because it allows me to practice my leadership and communication skills in a fast-paced work environment. Being able to work on my customer service skills on a day-to-day basis in such an intimate setting has allowed to further expand my professional horizions.

What I wish was different

I would say overall the only thing I would have changed about my experience is the amount I worked each week. I averaged about thirty hours per week, but wish I could have worked fourty plus.

Advice

I would say come into this role with an open mind. Be willing to be part of a team and you will highly enjoy this opportunity. Communication, leadership, and accountablity are all huge aspects of this job.

What I liked

I love working at Chipotle. I've been there for almost 3 years and they are always accommodating with my school schedule. I love my crew and management.

What I wish was different

I work in the Valley Plaza location and sometimes we do get customers who are really rude and sometimes try to start problems with the crew over ridiculous things. I wish the company would back up their employees more.

Advice

Don't take anything personal.

August 2017 • Alhambra, CA

What I liked

The work environment is very friendly and fast-paced, allowing me to gain experience in the team environment.

What I wish was different

Recognition from supervisors. I feel great when I'm being told that I'm doing a good job. However, I didn't hear that too often this past summer. I received more compliments from customers than I did my managers.

Advice

It's tough at first adjusting to the fast-paced, High demand work environment, but once you get the hang of it, it's a really beneficial experience that could go a long way in my future career.

Advice

Don’t be ashamed if your first summer job out of college isn’t a once in a lifetime opportunity. If you need money, getting a job at a place like Chipotle is perfectly fine. If you can swing a summer without a paycheck, try to get volunteer opportunities or internships closer to your field of study.
