Chipotle Mexican Grill

Cashier

May - August 2018 • Washington, DC

What I liked

The different skills i develped being out in different situations. For example dealing with a complaint from a customer, the speed in which i worked, how efficiently i was able to get the job done and so forth.

What I wish was different

I wish it was at a different location closer to home, but still paid the same amount. It was a hastle trying to get to work on time because of the trains and buses.

Advice

I would say some jobs like this might seem pointless now because they’re just summer jobs, but actually pay attention to the things you learn because the skills you abstain with summer jobs you can take anywhere with you and be successful.

Manager

October 2018 - July 2019 • Tyler, TX

What I liked

The connections I made with people throughout East Texas

What I wish was different

The way the store was managed by the GM. He had a good start but quickly let his authority overcome who he was as a person.

Advice

Never be afraid of taking charge. Managing is pretty easy. It’s just a lot of paperwork but with the right mindset, anybody can accomplish the tasks at hand.

Server on the Line

May - August 2023 • Livermore, CA

What I liked

I liked the workers (most workers and even some managers were around my age), the workplace (the restaurant was well organized and managed), and the food (which was cooked and seasoned perfectly) was very healthy and tasteful.

What I wish was different

I wish the schedule was released earlier than Sunday nights because some workers had trouble knowing they worked Monday morning shifts until they would get a call from the manager asking them to show up or other workers to back their shifts. I also wished that Chipotle would ask the customers for tips since the workers work really fast and are under pressure to serve the next customers.

Advice

I personally really enjoyed working at Chipotle because I felt like I wasn't forced to work on my shift, but I got to sustain my favorite food chain at home along with great coworkers who always help each other.

What I liked

I liked the pay and the location relative to home.

What I wish was different

I wish the management had been a little more patient, and had a little more respect for people that were showing up for shifts early because other employees had called off.

Advice

Management is not always great, but work is work.

Cashier

May 2020 - August 2021 • Avon, OH

What I liked

I liked that the work was repetitive and didn't require too much thought on my part.

What I wish was different

I wish that customers would have worn masks more and that we would have gotten longer breaks.

Advice

My advice is don't take anything too personally. Customers may be rude. Your coworkers may get on your nerves. Just remember that it doesn't matter or have anything to do with you. All you need to do is get in, do your best for your shift, get paid, and get out. It's a good job if you frame it right.
