About Indiana University School of Medicine Graduate Division

The Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM), the largest medical school in the US, offers graduate degrees in many basic medical science disciplines. PhD students enter through an Open Admission program (IBMG Program) where they have up to 1 year to select a research laboratory & degree program [students participate in 3 lab rotations to facilitate their decision]. Also offered: Research-based MS degrees in several disciplines & specialty areas. MS students enter directly into the program they apply to. In addition to the PhD & MS programs, the IUSM offers a special NIH designated Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) leading to the combined MD/PhD.
