What I liked

The flexibility of Robot Academy was exactly what I needed for the summer. I was able to keep an existing job and fill in time each week with Robot Academy. Also, responsibilities are split up between teaching assistants, and you have some freedom to choose what you're interested in working on. I had fun helping with a 3D printing project, teaching basic prototyping lessons, and making instructional videos. Communication was always open and welcoming, and I enjoyed working with the team.

What I wish was different

Advice

Communicate with your team on what projects and responsibilities you would like to be involved in. During summer camps, be ready to instruct young students and help them succeed.

What I liked

Working with the campers was great! You get to teach some very smart kids with interesting ideas. There are a lot of different topics such as robotics, programming, 3D printing/modeling, and cardboard prototyping, so there are multiple choices in what you can focus your work in.

What I wish was different

Advice

Communicate clearly which aspect of the job you would like to focus on. There are many different responsibilities that you can have with this job, and figuring out what you want to do and making that clear makes the job much more enjoyable.

What I liked

My experience at Robot Academy was a lot of fun as well as intellectually stimulating. I got to work with smart kids that have a great potential to be an engineer like me. The atmosphere at each work location was very positive and I was able to make good relationships with my coworkers. The work hours are very flexible and it was an overall enjoyable experience.
