USU Extension Intern
May - August 2019 • Salt Lake City, UT
What I liked
I enjoyed being able to actually get to know and work with kids in Salt Lake County. My favorite part was definitely State Contests.
What I wish was different
I wish my boss would have been better at communicating with me. It was difficult to fully do my job with inadequate communication.
Advice
When your boss doesn't give you adequate information and you've already reached out for more information, don't do it again. Apparently that looks bad to them, like you can't handle the responsibilities they've given you(even if that's not the case). Just do your best with what they gave you. It will most likely work out and will make you look good. And if any issues did crop up because of lack of communication, that would be on your boss, especially if you tried to reach out for better instruction once before.

International SEED Intern

What I liked
Honestly everything. I loved that we were able to have the freedom to decide our everyday schedules and figure out what was best for us and our clients. We were able to gain real world experience by teaching everyday and helping others become their own business owners.
What I wish was different
The only thing I would have liked to be different is a little bit more organization when we first got in country. However, I know that it has since been improved.
Advice
This is the greatest type of internship because you are woking with real people in the real world. You are getting hands on experience everyday and helping people break the poverty cycle by creating businesses that create jobs. I would 10/10 recommend this internship.
