I loved the opportunity to explore the scientific method in ways I hadn't before. I like the challenge of trying to figure out the best way to propagate semi woody plants.
What I wish was different
I had more time to work on the project!
Advice
Do not give up, when doing research it can be hard, but it is worth it.

Animal, Dairy, and Veterinary Science-Summer research intern
May - August 2019 • Logan, UT
What I liked
This internship offered me a wide range of laboratory experience. From collecting field data to performing protocols in the lab, I learned so much pertaining to the research side of the animal, dairy, and veterinary science field!
What I wish was different
At times, there was lack of communication between faculty and staff. With an increase of communication between the team members this program would be greatly improved. But overall my experience was amazing!
Advice
It is okay to not feel confident in yourself when experiencing a learning curve. Never give up, even when you feel inadequate. You have all the potential in the world when you believe in yourself!

It was a new project so also a new position so there were some things that weren't necessarily smooth, but they were small and next year it will be better I'm sure.

Event Operations Coordinator
July 2018 • Logan, UT
What I liked
This is a job that has allowed me to develop into a more dedicated work and focus on the small details that go into running an athletic event. I have been able to work my way up from being a student worker to now having a full-time job at the school I love!
What I wish was different
I wish I would have gotten to experience more of the administrative things. right now I am still in a position where I am just doing all of the "Grunt work" and don't feel like it is real responsibilities
Advice
Always have a positive attitude and be willing to do whatever it takes. don't complain about the crappy parts of the job, by doing the tasks that everyone hates to do it shows your employers that you are willing and able to do anything.

International Orientation Program Coordinator
November 2016 • Logan, UT
What I liked
I like that I get to work with both current and incoming students. I get to play a part in their experience at USU and help them see the potential that they have in themselves. Everyday is different and it brings its own set of challenges but it keeps me on my toes and I enjoy that. There is a good mix of student interaction and independent working.
What I wish was different
I don't think there is anything with the job that I wish would be different, but I wish that I would have approached the job differently at first. There was a steep learning curve and I struggled to find myself and balance at first. Things were rough and it was a long road, but it has ended up being an incredible job and an incredible opportunity to learn and grow.
Advice
Be open to learning in everything that you do, and do not be too quick to jump to another job. I truly believe that it takes a year of being in a job to truly learn how to do it and what all it entails. Be patient with yourself, your job, and the people you work with.

Deaf Educator and Graduate Mentor
March 2018 • Logan, UT
What I liked
I love the staff I work with and the people I get to serve. My job is satisfying and the bonus is working at the university lets my spouse have reduced tuition.
What I wish was different
I wish educators in Utah got a higher salary but I know this is a work in progress.
Advice
Never burn a bridge. My field is quite small and the people I worked with in my graduate program have become some of my biggest mentors and advocates. I know that we will continue to serve in the field together and I am glad I sought out meaningful relationships as a student that helped me find work today.
