I wish it paid more.
Advice
This is a great on campus job and you have to be checking handshake frequently for the posting.

What I liked
The hours were pretty flexible; if I needed a week off, I could get it pretty easily. Don’t work nights or weekend. The rest of the staff is absolutely lovely.
What I wish was different
There wasn’t always a ton to do; sometimes the work was really, really slow.
Advice
I’d recommend having this job in tandem with another part-time job

Museum Assistant
January 2019 • Logan, UT
What I liked
I liked and continue to like the opportunities for research that the museum offers me. As well as organizing public events, I am able to create museum exhibits and collaborate with other students for projects.
What I wish was different
Advice
It sounds intimidating to organize research, create exhibits, and organize public community events, but it's a wonderful opportunity. I would recommend having basic knowledge in what the museum pertains to (ex: museum of Anthropology, museum of art), but learning is a part of the experience.

Undergraduate Research Assistant
April 2019 • Logan, UT
What I liked
I was surprised to make $13/hr for my first internship, I thought they would pay a lot less. I also enjoyed the work and collaboration that I have with professors and other interns. Even though I am a biology major, working as a civil engineering intern was still very applicable to my major and has taught me a lot about research.
What I wish was different
I wish I had looked for an internship earlier, because it has provided my with valuable experience and insight into what career field and work I would like to go into.
Advice
I was surprised at how many internships that I applied for actually got back to me and wanted an interview. Apply for all the internships you would be interested in even if they're not your major because more than likely they will still provide you with valuable experience.

I learned more about my field than I ever could in the classroom and it even helped me in my classes by allowing me to apply what I learned.
What I wish was different
There were a few late nights but that was because I was working another full time job and at the beginning I also had another part time job.
Advice
If you’re interested in research try it NOW. I know some people who tried it and realized that’s not what hey want to spend their life doing. I personally love it so much. Either way you’re going to learn something about yourself.
